If there was an award for being the most efficient tractor this would probably win. Mowing a cover crop, ploughing it under and levelling the furrows is all carried out by this outfit from Dutch arable farm Van der Knijff. This Fendt 939 Vario S4 Black Beauty takes it all with ease despite the conditions being though and wet. Players of Farming Simulator might be familiar with the M.H. Front Roto-Arm. This specialist piece of equipment was developed and build by Dutch company Mechanisatie Haarlemmermeer. Attached to the arm is a Lely power harrow to level the furrows. This helps to create a more level surface which is needed on this heavy clay soil, where a crop of onions will be sown next year. This field grew winter wheat this year and rye grass was sown as a cover crop afterwards. To mow the grass a W Perfect flail mower has been attached to the front. Sadly the V-belt broke so it wasn't in action when we filmed. The land is turned over using a 7 furrow Kverneland LO 100 Variomat on-land plough.
